FAQ
1. What is live-in care?
Live-in care is a service where a trained carer moves into the client’s home to provide one-to-one support. This can include help with personal care, medication, mobility, meals, companionship, and daily living tasks all tailored to individual needs.
2. Who is live-in care suitable for?
Live-in care is ideal for adults who require full-time support but wish to remain at home. It suits people with long-term conditions, physical or learning disabilities, dementia, or those recovering after surgery or hospital discharge.
3. Will I always have the same carer?
Where possible, we aim to provide continuity with the same carer. In some cases, carers rotate in shifts (typically every 1–2 weeks), but we carefully match staff to clients based on personality, skills, and care needs.
4. What does the live-in carer do?
Your live-in carer can support you with:
- Personal care (washing, dressing, toileting)
- Medication prompts
- Mobility and transfers
- Preparing meals and nutrition
- Light housework (laundry, tidying)
- Companionship and emotional support
- Helping with appointments or activities
5. Is nursing care included in live-in care?
Live-in care does not include clinical nursing procedures like injections or wound care unless arranged separately through a district nurse or private nurse. We can coordinate this alongside your care package if needed.
6. Will the carer need their own room?
Yes, a live-in carer must have a private bedroom with access to bathroom and kitchen facilities. This allows them to rest during agreed breaks and maintain quality care throughout their stay.
7. How are live-in carers trained and vetted?
All JBC & Me Healthcare carers are fully trained in care standards, safeguarding, infection control, first aid, and manual handling. They are DBS-checked and regularly supervised to ensure high-quality, compliant care.
8. What if I don’t get along with the carer?
Your comfort is our priority. If for any reason you’re unhappy with a carer, we will listen to your concerns and make changes quickly and respectfully. Our goal is to ensure you feel safe, supported, and understood.
